Dave's Dilemma

Friends of mine introduced me to their friend, Dave, this morning. Over coffee and muffins Dave told us this true story. Years ago he and his son were heading home from a vacation out west when the Lord told him, "I want you to go to IHOP (International House of Prayer in Kansas City)." Dave took a 600 mile detour to check the place out before continuing on home. Tuition would cost about $2,000. Dave didn't have the money. But Dave said yes to God.

"Lord, I am willing to go, but You will have to supply the money." What happened next is a miracle.

Dave did not tell any of his friends or church family what God had asked him to do. One Sunday an acquaintance came up to him, handed him a check for $1,000 and said, "This is for you. You'll know what to do with it." Dave was stunned.

On another Sunday someone put an envelope in the offering plate with a note that read, "Please give this to Dave." In the envelope was another check for $1,000 and a note saying, "You'll know what to do with this."

Secret #1 in my book, Seven Secrets to Power Praying, is to say yes first to God before knowing the details of what He is asking us to do. Dave said yes to God without knowing where the tuition for IHOP would come from. Two people at his church said yes to God and gave Dave the money he needed without knowing what Dave needed it for.

When we say yes to God first and then follow His directions, we will see miracles. God receives all the glory. And when we give our testimony of His miracles, the faith of those around us soars. Dave's testimony this morning made my faith soar. What an awesome God we serve!
