How Much Longer, Lord??

Have you ever felt like this baby bird? You open your mouth wide, cry out to God and you wait, and wait and wait for His answer?

Like David says in Psalm 13:

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

How do you cope while you are waiting on God to answer??

The 'No' Blessing

Love is sometimes spelled 'no'.

'No' is what earned our dog a Good Canine Citizen award. He was not born with a leash. We had to buy it, attach it, and learn how to use it. With each tug on the leash and a firm 'no' he learned how to control his behavior. That earned him to the right to become a therapy dog, to bless others.

Recently I was challenged to say 'yes' to God's 'no'.

FAQ #8 Left Hanging on the Line?

You call on God. You know He's on the other end of your prayer, but whenever you ask Him a question you get no answer. It feels like God put the phone down to attend to something more important. What could be more important than what is on your heart right now - yet God seems silent. Is He mad at you? Several readers have asked me that question. When their prayers seem to go unanswered, they wonder, 'Is God mad at me?"

FAQ # 7 Patience in the Waiting

Many readers have written expressing frustration and concern that their prayers are not being answered...yet. I added the 'yet' because God always has a solution to our situation.

"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10) is not a suggestion. It is a gentle, loving answer to the question, "How long do I wait?" and to the emotions we feel when we voice our frustration: "I've been praying about this for days (weeks, months, years)!"

I have a mental image that I rehearse in my mind when I, too, tire of waiting at not seeing an answer.

FAQ Blog #1

How long do you sit and wait for God to speak to you?

There are several answers to this question. It depends on...

  • how soon I need the answer
  • how much time I have that day to pray and listen
  • how clueless I am as to how to proceed
